Lighting Reel
It was a blast to be a lighting artist for the animated feature film ‘Panda Bear in Africa’, at Katuni Animation! I had the opportunity to light a lot of really fun sequences. I created this lighting reel to highlight some of the work I did 🙂 Please have a look.
Lighting
The most challenging part for me was the cinematic lighting approach. I was more familiar with stylized or commercial lighting before working on this project. The film needed more realistic and natural lighting than I was used to. We could express further since everyone wanted a colorful kids film 🙂 Wherever possible I tried to add a nice mood with color and atmosphere.
Look at those
It was super enjoyable to light these adorable creatures. The film also had a lot of different sets, times of day, lighting situations, and characters. Solving those challenges made it a lot of fun.
My favorite moment turned out to be the intimate campfire sequence.
